An investment in our culture.

EYE SPY Program

To compel employees and external partners to embody EMR’s Code of Conduct, Customer Service Pledge, and commitment to safety, in 2016 a group of 33 staff volunteers developed an ongoing, multi-site employee engagement program called EYE SPY. With an objective to create a culture of zero-negativity and reinforce EMR’s core values, the EYE SPY program encourages employees and external partners to spy on anyone exhibiting positive behaviors, living out the code and pledge values, maintaining a safe work environment and going above and beyond the call of duty.

“The reward is not only the prize at the end of the month, but the reward that you had a positive influence on others and they thought enough of it to submit an eye spy to recognize you. A positive work environment is a productive work environment!”

– Don Jones, Refrigeration Tech, Baltimore

Well-being Program

EMR’s Well-being program was developed in 2017. After an employee satisfaction survey was conducted among all 200 employees, it was determined that physical, financial, and community well-being were a common interest and main concern among everyone. A well-being committee was formed and they hold the responsibility of planning and executing events each quarter. These events focus on physical, financial, or community well-being and all employees are encouraged to attend.

Physical Well-being Events: The goal is to improve overall health, well-being, and fitness in order for employees to have enough energy to have their best day, every day. This could be through engagements such as a volleyball league, bowling league, 5k run, treadmill or exercise bike onsite at the branches, gym membership benefit, fitness classes and even an effort to encourage healthy eating habits. The opportunities are limitless.

Community Well-being Events: These events focus on liking where you live, feeling safe, and having pride in your community through organized social events.  These events can be seasonal donation drives, charity work, building events and ways to volunteer to give back to your community.

Financial Well-being Events: EMR is dedicated to finding ways that will help it’s employees manage their economic life to reduce stress and increase financial security. We have partnered with a financial planning consultant to offer this approach to well-being. Through financial seminars and personal financial advising, employees have the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and realistic strategies for managing their finances.

“My favorite part about the well-being program is that everyone has the opportunity to interact with other employees from different branches. EMR is built around being a family and these programs definitely make it easier for us all to grow stronger and build friendships.”

Regular Celebrations – retirements, holidays, tenure gifting, and more

Having fun and enjoying what we do is EMR’s motto. One way we do this – celebrating! Employee recognition is an important value that we stand by. It is all about acknowledging the diligence and accomplishments of the individuals within our organization.

Whether it is a work anniversary, a birthday, a holiday, or a retirement, we strive to find a thoughtful and fun way to recognize these significant dates. Holidays at EMR are celebrated with costume contests, decorating contests, secret Santa gift exchanges, luncheons, and more. Retirements come with a party to thank the retiree for their time and dedication to EMR over the years. Our employees are our bread and butter and they deserve acknowledgment on their birthdays and work anniversaries. With employees celebrating 10 year, 20 year, 30 year and more anniversaries, we recognize these milestones with a gift of their choice. Nothing is too small or insignificant to celebrate at EMR!
